Daiga Krūze
Daiga Krūze is a talented painter of the middle generation, whose refined artistic style has been evolving since the early 2000s. The focus of Krūze’s painting is the surrounding environment and nature, sometimes including human and animal figures which she deconstructs down to sensitive depictions of emotions and their pure essence. The artist expresses the feelings she obtains from nature in a seemingly coarse or careless painting style, lightly touching and playing with the texture of the canvas, and often leaving fragments of the canvas surface unpainted. But behind this expressively monumental manner lie precisely captured impressions of nature, which the artist shapes into the form of large, contrasting colour fields. In “In the Forest” un “Permanent” Krūze deploys free, flying brush sweeps to superbly draw together nature impressions, powerful inner energy and overall harmony and spatial analysis in a combined whole.
