Ieva Kraule-Kūna
Ieva Kraule-Kūna creates sculptural objects from various materials (ceramics, stone, metal etc.) and supplements these with short stories, in which the adventures of the absurd fictional characters mingle with strangely interpreted historical facts. In her works, the artist combines social anthropology with the absurd and Dadaistic play tradition.
The installation “The Gorgoneion's Gaze” reveals the typical elements of Ieva Kraule-Kūna’s works, including experimentation with materials and its interplay with narrative, the use of historical symbols in a contemporary context and poetic expression.
