Rasa Jansone
In her work as an artist and a publicist, Rasa Jansone consistently addresses feminist issues. Her focus is on women’s status in modern society, stereotypical images, and existential questions. Her large oil portraits with baroque brushstroke energy pose uncomfortable questions for society, holding up a mirror to its face.
Jansone’s expressive painting “The Right Hand V” is a part of a series of works in which the artist explores the cliched image of women in our society. Is a woman merely a man’s “right hand” in the family, relationships, or the workplace? Is she just the “right hand” or a fully-fledged person in her own right? The artist formulates reflections and questions about the woman’s role as mother and carer with the aid of painting, based on her own feelings and reflections on her femininity and that of her close companions.
