Sandra Strēle

Sandra Strēle is a painter of the younger generation. She creates an ambitious series of paintings, moving the story in chronological order from one canvas to the next. Strēle’s works often feature isolated, alienated, lonely places and architectural elements. The works are vividly coloured and include references to classic painting. In the series “Exhibitions which never happened” the artist visualises exhibitions which for various reasons didn’t happen, asking how many ideas are actually realised, whether this is even necessary and what it means to be a successful artist in the modern world.
